drawstring purse
14-16 inch diameter drawstring purse. Easily worked using double strands of size 10 cotton crochet thread for duability and best of all, requires no liner.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Supplies: Size 0 steel crochet hook (or size C aluminum crochet hook), 450 yards size 10 cotton crochet thread.
Stitches Used: ch, sl st, sc, dec sc, dc, tr, picot (ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook).
Gauge: with 0 hook- 8 dc = 1 inch, 2 dc rows = 1 inch.
Directions-Working with 2 strands throughout entire project:
Rnd. 1: ch 4, join with sl st to form ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc of next rnd).
Rnd. 2: work 15 dc in ring, join to top of beginning ch 3, ch 3, do not turn. 16 dc
Rnd. 3: dc in same st, *2 dc in next dc*, repeat from asterisks 14 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3, ch 3, do not turn. 32 dc
Rnd. 4: dc in first st, *2 dc in next dc*, repeat from asterisks 30 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3, ch 3, do not turn. 64 dc

Drawstrings-Make 2
Rnd. 1: leaving 4 inch tail, ch 151, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, being careful not to twist, fasten off leaving 4 inch tail.
Weave drawstring through ch 1 spaces at rnd. 16, pull 2 strands of tail through the end sl st of drawstring, tie to secure drawstring closed.
Starting at opposite side of bag, weave 2nd drawstring through ch 1 spaces on rnd. 16, secure as done with first drawstring.
Fringe-Make 2
Wrap double strand of thread 12 times around 4 inch cardboard square, cut in half. Attach tassel on secured end of drawstring, trim

granny pillow cover
Front Part of Pillow Cover (working in rounds)
Beginning ring: With (B) ch 5, sl st into first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 3 counts as first dc, 2 dc into ring, ch 3, *3 dc into ring, ch 3, repeat from * 2 times, sl st in third chain of beginning ch 3.
Rnd 2: sl st in next 2 dc, (ch 3, dc - ch 3 - 2 dc) in corner ch 3 space, dc into next 3 dc, *(2 dc - ch 3 - 2 dc) in corner ch 3 space, dc into next 3 dc, Repeat from * around, sl st in third chain of beginning ch 3.
Rnd 3: sl st in last dc’s over to corner, **chain 3, (ch 3, dc - ch 3 - 2 dc) in corner ch 3 space, dc into each dc on side section, *(2 dc - ch 3 - 2 dc) in corner ch 3 space, dc into each dc on side section, Repeat from * around, sl st in third chain of beginning ch 3.
After each 3 rnds fasten off yarn and join next color in corner chain.
Continue adding rounds as follows:

Back Pillow Cover (working in rows and using (A) until finished)
Row 1: Ch 3 in corner dc, dc in next corner dc and in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 2: Ch 3 counts as dc, dc in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 3: Ch 3 counts as dc, *sc in next dc, dc in next dc, repeat* 24 times, turn (25 dc, 25 sc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 4: Ch 3 counts as dc, dc in each sc and in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 5 - 29: Repeat - alternating row 3 and 4 for pattern, Fasten off at end of last row and weave in ends.
Finishing and Stuffing
To sew cover together, thread yarn needle with (A), fold the granny and rows of sc/dc right sides together flat with fold facing you, join yarn at corner near fold and blanket stitch through row end back loops only, hide yarn as you work. Work up right side , across top and down left side halfway to leave room for stuffing the pillow inside. Turn cover inside out and stuff pillow inside cover and finish sewing together. Fasten off yarn and hide inside. Take (A) and thread yarn needle, join in center ring of granny, sewing around the bottom of the 1st row of dc over ring, make 12 French knots in the ring. Fasten off, weave in ends.
Beginning ring: With (B) ch 5, sl st into first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: ch 3 counts as first dc, 2 dc into ring, ch 3, *3 dc into ring, ch 3, repeat from * 2 times, sl st in third chain of beginning ch 3.

Back Pillow Cover (working in rows and using (A) until finished)
Row 1: Ch 3 in corner dc, dc in next corner dc and in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 2: Ch 3 counts as dc, dc in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 3: Ch 3 counts as dc, *sc in next dc, dc in next dc, repeat* 24 times, turn (25 dc, 25 sc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 4: Ch 3 counts as dc, dc in each sc and in each dc across, turn (50 dc + 1ch 3dc)
Row 5 - 29: Repeat - alternating row 3 and 4 for pattern, Fasten off at end of last row and weave in ends.
Finishing and Stuffing
To sew cover together, thread yarn needle with (A), fold the granny and rows of sc/dc right sides together flat with fold facing you, join yarn at corner near fold and blanket stitch through row end back loops only, hide yarn as you work. Work up right side , across top and down left side halfway to leave room for stuffing the pillow inside. Turn cover inside out and stuff pillow inside cover and finish sewing together. Fasten off yarn and hide inside. Take (A) and thread yarn needle, join in center ring of granny, sewing around the bottom of the 1st row of dc over ring, make 12 French knots in the ring. Fasten off, weave in ends.
